Disney x designer: Stoney clover

If you follow any Disney influencers on social media, then I’m sure you’ve come across the cult favourite Stoney Clover. This whimsical shop combines beautiful patterns and colours with an endless combination of patches that instantly create a personalized accessory for you. As a buyer, the focus on travel accessories hit deep in my soul.

When the newest Disney collaboration was released, I was in! I had just hit a major milestone at work, was looking for a self-congratulatory splurge, and Stoney Clover checked all of the boxes. The previous Disney collaboration featured the various princesses which fits perfectly with the essence of the brand; however for the 50th anniversary, the prints were focused on the original six – Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Daisy and Pluto. This vintage, throwback feel is much more my vibe.

Check out the options at the link below. The filters help you create exactly what you are looking for starting with body, followed by pattern, and then patches etc.:

Mickey and Friends – Stoney Clover Lane

With all of these options, what did I end up choosing? After much deliberation, here is what I landed on.

I loved the idea of an oversized pouch to hold my ears when I travel to WDW. For the pattern, I went with the option appropriately dubbed ‘Yours Truly’ which showcases my OG – Mickey. With cute tiny stars and Mickey heads strewn about (you know from the Disnified Nails article that I LOVE a Mickey silhouette) on a muted neutral stripe. I am also a sucker for anything pearl, so the Chanel-inspired patches made it a perfect chef’s kiss. And it fits a lot of ears – seven pairs to be exact.

My second choice is a throwback to my ‘80s Disney roots: a fanny pack! Here I chose the ‘Friends Forever’ print – a classic Disney red with a gang’s-all-here vibe to the print. I opted for no patch because the print is just so perfect.

Finally, I wanted something with each print, and one way to do that was with the packing cubes. In my opinion, they are one of the best value items on the site. If you travel a lot, like I do, cubes are an essential for packing. The set I chose comes with all six cubes in various sizes and a pouch and each packing cube is a different pattern (Friends Forever, Sensational 6, Ultimate Pair, Dynamic Duo and Yours Truly).

But the biggest question: was Stoney Clover Lane worth the splurge? Because it is a splurge. The price escalates quickly when you add up all of the patches. So, here are my thoughts.

The presentation of the package is outstanding; it really makes the unboxing a true experience. See below for the presentation: 10/10 on that.

Reusable packaging for the win

The patterns are so unique and feel upscale and the hardware is hefty! The patches add a personalization that is unparalleled. This is something that is made to last and a conversation starter when you are wandering around a park. I definitely recommend these from a quality perspective.

The one thing I do have issue with is that there were additional duties that I had to pay to import this to Canada. I didn’t anticipate them (ouch), so, if I were to buy more, I would find a store when travelling to purchase while in the U.S.

Duty aside, I am a fan. I think these two sister entrepreneurs are doing a wonderful job and I am here to see what they do next!

**Update: Stoney Clover just announced a collaboration with Target, so if a splurge isn’t for you, run to your nearest Target. This Canadian girl is jealous!!
